rod for the dodder

Hi lads.what rod would you recommend for the dodder? At the moment I am using a streamflex 9ft 4wt but I feel that its a wee bit big.I came across a wychwood truefly sla fly rod 7ft 3wt on the net which I think may fit the bill.has anyone had any experience with this rod and also would the size be better suited.?
