Ok so my favorite would be glendalough fayre in laragh, while the staff can be quiet short and to the point their banana nut brownie and spiced lentil soup is whopper, its also on the crossroads on a good few tried and tested routes.

wheres your favorite spot and recommended items on the menu? having a place to show off the bike is mandatory by the way.

Homans, Café del Stelle and The Happy Pear in Greystones are all fabulous spots to stop. Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford also.

I used to stop in Glendalough Fayre (aka "Hippy Cafe" - link) a lot but the owner got sniffy on 2 occasions when I asked for brown bread instead of a roll with my salad.

Maybe I'm being just as sniffy by not returning much since

Nowadays, I tend to bring what I need with me, so can't really make a recommendation.

I agree on Glendalough Fayre, not the friendliest staff you are ever going to come across. would like to hear other suggestions around the area

Kennedy's in Enniskerry. Nice coffee. Nice people.

I tend to go to Anne's now in Laragh as a combination of a complete lack of friendly service and horrendous price in the fayre just put me off the place.

Where is Anne's in Laragh? Must try it out. Can't say I've ever noticed bad service in the Fayre, but I do certainly notice the price.

Even though you seem to be friends with the owner of Anne's , I think you are right.
Anyone been into the new place "the conservatory"

I find the staff in Glendalough Fayre to be absolutely fine. The bike racks, water tap and pump really push it over the top for 'cycle friendly'. It is quite expensive at €5.50 for a tea and cake but I didn't think it was that unreasonable given the location. How much cheaper would the equivalent be in Annes?

The Armory Cafe in Glencree is nice and it's in a spot where you don't have a lot of other options.

I'll have to try Mount Usher Gardens. My only experience trying to get food in Ashford led me to believe that 'sandwiches' was some sort of exotic fare and I'd have gotten a better reaction if I'd asked for larks tongue in aspic instead.

Mount usher gardens....on a Saturday afternoon...you will generally find loads of cyclists!! Wicklow Tri, Bray Wheelers...and more than a few randomers! Generally a friendly bunch!! :-)

Good deal for a sambo and a tea/coffee and the sambos are huge!!

I'm actually not truth be told. I know him but in the sort of way you'd know a neighbour without being friends if you get me. Being a small town I do also know the girls in the Fayre and McCoys in the "other" shop.

All that said I do agree with hivemind in that I like the idea of the bike racks although I must admit I've never used them, nor have I used the tap. The track pump (placed there by cycle super store btw) is a good addition and one which I used only last saturday.
