I think it would be worth it of you could find another €100 or so, you'd have an excellent gaming PC, taking out windows and the monitor leaves only about €500 for the box and peripherals.

Its still enough to make something decent, but if you can at all I'd throw in a little bit extra.

Something like this would be pretty good, and very upgradeable in the future. A nice IPS monitor decent GPU, overclockable CPU with a good cooler, the Case/motherboard also offers support for front USB3 as well.

    Item|Price
    LG 22EA53VQ-P|€129.56
    MS Windows 8 64bit (SB-Version) Englisch|€85.11
    Cooler Master K350 Midi-Tower mit Sichtfenster, schwarz|€43.67
be quiet! SYSTEM POWER 7 450W|€51.94
    ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0, AM3+, ATX|€62.84
AMD FX-6300 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+|€104.02
    WD Caviar Blue 1TB 6Gb's|€57.27
    8GB G.Skill RipJaws-X PC3-12800U CL10|€55.77
    PowerColor Radeon HD 7850 V2, 2GB GDDR5|€162.74
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€28.37

    Total|€800.28

One way to get it down by 100 is with a lesser motherboard, cheaper case, 4GB instead of 8GB, a 500GB HDD and loosing the CPU cooler, but I do think the above is worth going tha bit extra mile for.

Both of the above are missing perhipherals and Wifi etc so haven't quite met all the requirements of course :o, but is is a general idea of what you can get for your money.

Cheers, If I were to leave out windows and the monitor for the moment and the 700 was for the build and the peripherals, what kind of build would you then recommend. I could get windows and the monitor the following month, I wouldn't mind waiting if it gave me a better gaming build.

Well you can take the first build by marco_polo
and just swap in a even better CPU and GPU

I'd stick to the first build above, but maybe bump up the GPU a bit more to this this, add a wifi card, cheapo gaming mouse to get going with.

Comes to about 650 delivered, leaving 50ish for speakers and a keyboard.

Edit: Tuxys suggestions are good too, the FX6300 + HD7950 would be a nice halfway house between the two either.

I actually made a small change when I realised I went over budget, the build with a 8320 + 7870 xt is in budget and a 6300 + 7950 would also be in budget. I can't see there being much difference between the two in terms of performance.

Yeah I wouldn't have a huge preference for either combo, on reflection maybe I'd lean slightly more towards the FX-8320 + 7870 xt as you'd expect to hold onto the CPU for a few years longer than the GPU, and with bit of overclocking you could bridge most of the gap to the HD7950, but you can't replace the missing two cores. And although it doesn't make much difference right now, it may be more significant in a year or two.

I agree. I'd almost sat the XT better value than the 7950 too, all things considered. €210 is damn good value for it.

Cheers for the replies lads. I forgot im going to be getting a bit of commision of the job this month for been away on site so I may be able to get the monitor and peripherals this month also.

Do you think an SSD would be a good idea if my budget was increased by another 150 or would you put that cash to better use?

An ssd would be a great way to spend the extra budget. No real need to spend 150 though. I would go for this

Aside from the SSD some other random suggestions include a larger monitor, or a better motherboard that would be a little more robust for overclocking the FX8320 (You'd have to be pretty conservative when overclocking with the Pro3, I probably wouldn't do much beyond bumping the 8320 up to the 8350 turbo speed of 4.2GHz), or perhaps a 2TB HDD?
