I am due to arrive in Vancouver, BC in early July on a 2 year working holiday Visa Programme, but I am already looking into Holidays. If I am working in Canada can I make short term (1 - 30 day) trips to the USA just to travel NOT TO WORK??

If you enter the US you'll sign a visa waiver that allows you up to 90 days in the country for travel purposes.

I lived in Vancouver before, the obvious choice for a first holiday is Seattle, only 4 hours away by Greyhound and its a great city!

Is there a limit to the amount of times you can do this ?

Nope. There is no limit. It would be common for people who live in cities close to the border, to bounce back and forth between the two countries fairly often. My sister lives in Seattle. She has a lot of Irish friends in Vancouver who visit Seattle fairly regularly, without any issues. If everything is legit with your work and employment in Canada, then you shouldn't run into any problems. However, the US Customs and Immigration folks at the border can deny you entry if they think that you are a risk of entering the country and working illegally, so its not always a 100% certainty that you'll be allowed in.
