    anyone been to alvor recently?
    looking for some restaurant reccomendations (like all but esp steak) and any other general tips for the area. It will be me my wife and 2 sons 12 and nearly 3 and we are staying at Villa Da Praia

    Its been 18 years since I was there The Old Town was lovely one Resturaunt was upstairs on a roof Dutch Guy & Irish Wife First time I ever cooked my own Steak on a Stone. Hope you enjoy your trip.

    were we recommended a place called bouganvilla (sp) by a local and it didn't disappoint! its near the taxi rank (not the one near the water). there is also a lovely italian at the bottom of the main hill, you go down a side street and its upstairs, fantastic views.

    Big Reds steakhouse has moved closer to the town and is great. It has a playground for kids outside which means the kids are not running around the restaurant.

    I got a taxi, but its up passed Alvor Ferias afaik

    There's a new steakhouse on the main street opposite the sports bar. Lovely, but smallish steaks. Service took a while too, but we were a big group, so wont slate them too much!
