Front wheel not spinning properly

    Hi all,
Looking for some advice on how to fix the front wheel that's not spinning properly.
When it's mounted it barely does a full turn when spun.
I did the Connemara Adventure Challenge couple of weeks ago which was my last proper spin on it. Lot of it off road so plenty of opportunities for grit to get into the bearings. I'm only guessing that that's the problem.
Any remedies rather than bringing it to the LBS? Cleaned it and gave it a good doss of wd40 but no luck.

Nothing to do with the brakes in case anyone points it out! I can't see how it would be anything to do with the quick release as it should flow freely over the hub correct? Misaligned front fork is my other guess, but they look fine.

Other question, fabulous day, any point in going for a spin? Will I do any damage or just make it harder work for me??

    Cheers,
    Alan

if the wheel is tight and you're sure it's not the brakes you might have a look at

1 - wheel alignment ; is the tyre rubbing the frame somewhere. Did you take the wheel off recently?

2 - bearings ; if you have a cup/cone arrangement, sometimes these can get a bit tight - have a look on youtube for service/cleaning - it's pretty straightforward although you'll need a few tools

I wouldn'd be inclined to go out on it if there's something wrong ; you may also do a bit of damage to the bike.

    Don't use WD40 - it's not really a lubricant you'd use on a bie. More of a cleaner/degreaser., water remover http://wd40.com/uses-tips/. Unless its a specific lubricant made by them - wd40bike.com
