    Hi,

looking for pros and cons of fake grass versus real grass......

have quite a small back garden and big front garden. No problem with grass in front but cant get greass to grow in back. Its quite damp and shaded......

was thinking about putting articifial grass down. cost is not really a factor.

    any thoughts would be appreciated.

Some decent paving and some tubs. Never had fake grass and couldn't contemplate it, so my opinion is a bit biased, but that's it, for what its worth.

Unless you have a specific reason for wanting fake grass I'd avoid it. I'd agree with looksee re paving, possibly even gravel if it suited.

The garden is split into four sections, stonces, paving, decking and grass.....hence the reason for maintining the grass section.....

There are several obvious advantages (durable, no maintenance, soft but resilient, stable and free draining etc) to fake grass, but once installed correctly it is a wonderful usable all year and long lasting surface. The only disadvantage is the relative higher installation costs certainly in comparison to natural grass but also other usual alternatives such as decking and even patio.

There are specific conditions it which it is the superior and obvious choice and damp shaded sites where natural grass is difficult if not impossible, a typical one.

If you can get over the 'synthetic' element, it is a wonderful material.

There was a "fake grass" supplier at Bloom. At the end of the wizard of oz garden. They had photos of a couple of locations and they looked good.
