Need two dead jackdaws

For over 7 months I've had two jackdaws attacking the window at sunrise until sundown. They're quite smart, one seems to just watch and caw a lot whilst the other starts pecking at the glass. The odd thing, like a coat hanging outside, lasts for a week or so before they get used to it. They rotate from window to window throughout the day, if we go away for the day the place is covered in bird **** and the windows are full of marks :(

I'm based in Templeorum, Co. Kilkenny. Is it possible to pay someone to shoot them? They hang around all day but are very sensitive to movement.

AFAIK They are a protected bird, you cant legally shoot them.

No way! Crap. What about getting 2 non-protected dead birds and, weird as it'll look, hanging them 'round the house for a few days. I've heard that works with crows quite well

Not true at all.. They can be shot under derogation.. If nearby farmer was having trouble with jackdaws damaging crops he could shoot them for you.

or someone shooting for crop protection could get you 2 dead ones 100% legally.

Thank you. i could go check with some of the farmers around here, they're all very old though :) How do I go about finding someone to shoot them, or give me two dead ones from somewhere else?

I'm just outside of Mullinavat, in between Waterford and Kilkenny off the motorway, but would be more than happy to drive to whomever can help!

I think the title of this thread should be 'Want two jackdaws dead ' rather than 'Need two dead jackdaws';)

Try putting out an owl decoy, corvids hate birds of prey and will either leave or obsess over it and not your window, hopefully.

Thanks for the suggestion, we bought that before and it lasted for about a week before they shat all over it, proceeded to ignore it and continue flying, or ****ting over, our windows!
