New HD Box

I have a Sky engineer coming out soon to fix a no signal issue. The arm of the dish that the LNB sits on rusted out and collapsed onto my roof, so he will be fitting a new dish. Theres no problem with the old Sky+ box in the front room. (After going up on the roof and holding the LNB in its old position I got signal back again)
Thing is Id like to get the new HD box off him as Ive heard its abit quicker in menus, has picture in picture, and a new harddrive for recording would be good at this stage as they tend to go belly up after afew years.

Im presuming he will just fit the dish and hope to leave me with the old box. Can I ask him to install a new box regardless though?

He will only be coming to fit a new dish for you but you can ask him for a hd box he might just have a spare one with hlm and sell it to you.
Failing that you could buy one on adverts.ie for about €50.

Well I wasnt intending to buy one if I can avoid it! Considering I reduced my call out fee from €100 down to €0 simply by asking to cancel, I was wondering could I do something similar with the skybox. I suppose its not up to the guy in the van though.

Unless you upgrade to the HD package ( in which case you should be able to get it off Sky for free ) you will definitely not get it for free off the engineer.

As OP said you can buy one on Adverts.ie for €40ish. Engineer will charge you at least €50 for one.
