Does anyone know of any plans for an American Football to be held in Dublin in 2014. Heard rumors of a game planned for Sept 2014 to be held in either Croke Park or the Aviva. Opposing Teams being Penn State and University of Central Florida. Would appreciate any news or updates......Thanks :D

It's almost certainly going ahead. There were four UCF admins over for a visit last week to Croke Park, and they reportedly loved it and are very optimistic that the game will happen.. Bill O'Brien said as much the other day when he said they were really close to finalising plans for the game over here so I'd be shocked if it fell through.

They planning on Croke Park this time instead of Lansdowne?

It will all depend on whether or not they can fill 80,000 plus and whether or not the GAA will be willing to move the hurling final. Last year many said it would be a cold day in hell before that happened but in the end they moved it to the following weekend after the fact. But last year Navy preferred Landowne road anyways.

The All Ireland hurling final is set for September 8th, I doubt that would clash anyway as the Penn State game would presumably be held on a Saturday, UCF v Penn State is currently scheduled for September 14th.

I presumed it was opening weekend again never thought to check if it was a different date. Croker will surely be the front runner if UCF believe they can fill the stadium.

Edit that Sept 14th game is 2013 not 2014.

The Sept 14th game is down as Sept 14th 2013 as in this coming season. As of now Penn State dont have it listed on their schedule for 2014 and UCF have it down as TBD

Did a bit more searching and it seems Oct 4th is the open spot on Penn States schedule most likely to be the day used.

There is one non-conference spot left to be filled for the 2014 schedule and it points to Central Florida and the Ireland game that everyone has been talking about. UCF has not announced their conference schedule yet for 2014, but if Penn State doesn't switch around dates with non-conference opponents, it appears that October 4th would have to be the date for that game. I doubt the staff would give up a bye week to prepare for Ohio State and mid-November would seemingly be too late for such a contest.
