Thinking of getting an Audi A4

    Hi
I'm in the market for an Audi A4, 2008 onwards.
I think they're about the best looking car on the road (including Merc's, BMWs etc).
I'm looking there at the car sites and see something like this.
    http://www.cbg.ie/Audi_A4_2.0_2009_Galway-Diesel_Ice_Silver_Saloon

That cannot be right can it.
How much are Audi A4s (2008, 2009 say) with average mileage (50000 miles say) going for now.
    I would've thought at least 15000.
    Appreciate any advice.

edit: Would be open to greater mileage if it was in good nick

If on average 2009 A4s are asking for €15k then there is bound to be something not right with one asking nearly half that price. No mention of a contact number so I would put money on it being some sort of scam.

Drove my cousin's 2009 about a year and wasn't overly impressed with how it drove, nice power delivery but it was void of any sort of feedback from the steering. Would not swap my 3 Series for one anyway.

+1 on that. Not a hope in hell a genuine 09 A4 is going for that money.

Something really wrong there, must be a typo. The are far closer to the €20k in dealer forecourts at the moment, especially the diesels. That or its a quick sell repo, although I doubt it. The profit margin would be too much to pass up on. Although it is a private sale, could be someone who just really needs out.

As long as it checked out mechanically and credit wise, could be a good buy (If it exists at all)

You could walk into any garage in the country and they'd give more than that if they were in a rush to sell.........

I'd say it should be 18k instead of €8k though..

True enough. They could do with adding a real phone number and some proper pictures though too if it was genuine.

    :D

Relax - its the mans personal opinion. 2009 A4 in full S Line trim with Xenon and 19" is a better looking car than 3 Series and C Class of same ilk. I think it and i have seen independent focus groups confirm it.

Its not the best looking car on the road but against its two main competitors? I think so.

I think it is you who needs to relax there. I read the sentence and found it funny. More of a tongue in cheek comment. I think an S-Line A4 isn't bad at all -certainly not the best looking car on the road though which is what I was referring to.

Sporty C-Class whatever it's called is a nice looking motor too.

Independent focus group? Hmmm. Xenon doesn't change the asthetics of the car in any meaningful way. The C-Class is better looking than the A4. Audi have gotten the back of all their cars wrong. The A7 is almost nice until you get to the back. A5 Coupe is manky though. Don't know why boards folk love it.

No, 8k's way too low. I got a 2011 in Jan - 27k, a 2009 should be just under 20: 17-19kish. Unfortunately mine's just the barebones spec :P S-Line is nice if it can be got. Try & get Park Assist, MF steering wheel & bluetooth @ least if you can. Leather's a nice touch if its available. BMWs are more of a drivers car though. Loooked @ one of those too, 3 things put me off: rear wheel drive (dreadful in the snow), no spare wheel - it uses run flats which are €250ish each to replace, & the boots small with no folding rear seats. A4's FWD, bigger boot with folding seats, & a spare(spacesaver). For me the A4 won out on practicality.

They are all average cars. Not much to choose between any of them IMO. It comes down to personal preference.

Not sure I agree with that. I've got an Audi A4 170bhp S Line, and it handles way better than any VW I've ever driven, with the exception of the Golf GTi I guess
