Hi I have a air vent at neighbours side on my kitchen extension ... It's right beside the patio door I can hear it open : close all the time through this vent... It's annoying .... I was thinking of blocking it up and putting ventilation hole at other side of extension .... Before I hire jack hammer and start destroying the place I am wondering can you get a window Or ideally perhaps replace the top part only ( see pic) that will come with inbuilt ventilation strip!? If so that would keep the air circulating ( aware carbon minoxide issue boiler and multi fuel in kitchen need ventilatin) save on a lot of hassle in particular if window top part only could be replaced that would allow ventilation in .... Thks
Ps sorry for the long post !

    Paddy

We'll need more info on your installation to advise. What year was the window installed? Check on the box it came in - common years are '95, '98 and 2000. You may have one called 'XP' or '7' which would indicate a more recent model giving you more options.

You may have some people advising to upgrade to the newest model, version '8' - given feedback here, I'd wait a while until they have worked out the initial kinks in the manufacturing process so that you get a more useable product.

Thanks for your quick reply. The extension is about 4yrs old it was a muster joinery window if I can recall correctly builder mentioned sonething about category "B" I can remember saying why didn't you get an A rated!
It may have been a security grading not sure. I am reay looking for a cheap remedy to an unexpected problem ... I see a thing on e bay called a trickle vent that can be retro fitted ... That seems the solution ...,how effective that would be I don't know tho ... I wilts need a permanently open option to ensure adequate air ventilation due to appliances in the room

You can either report your own post Paddy or PM one of the moderators of this forum, I think they're listed at the bottom of this page (I'm on the touch site myself at the moment), but I think Fysh is a moderator of this forum from what I remember.

This is a link to the relevant Building Regulations

    http://www.environ.ie/en/Publications/DevelopmentandHousing/BuildingStandards/FileDownLoad,1647,en.pdf

Section 1.1.8 on page 6, section 1.2.1.3 on page 9, as well as Table 1 on page 14 and section 1.2.2.11 on page 15 are all relevant but a read of the whole document is advisable.

    This may be apt ;)

Wife is at home and texts husband on a cold winter morning:

    "Windows frozen."

    Husband texts back:
"Pour some lukewarm water over it."

Wife texts back 5 minutes later:
    "Computer completely f*cked up now."
