The second independent qualifying match of the 2013/14 National Pike championships will be held on the River Suck at Ballymoe next Sunday 9th. The top 5 anglers from each of 10 qualifiers along with 5 from the stewards qualifier will fish in the Final next year. The winner in the Final will be crowned Irish National Pike Champion and will captain the top 10 from the Final in an International Team Challenge Match.
A long stretch of the Suck will be fished on Sunday. All pike caught must be weighed by an angler from another club so if you are wandering off make sure that there is someone from another club with you and that either one of you is a steward with scales. Anglers should check in in Ballymoe from 9.30 for fishing 11 to 4. The entry fee is €15 and there is an optional €5 pool for the best pike (3 prizes). To enter you must be a member of one of the 70+ clubs affiliated to the Irish Federation of Pike Angling Clubs. If you are not a member of an affiliated club you can join one at the check in for €10 for the year. For more details phone competitions officer Sean Markey on 0873667198
