    Hi

Im starting to learn guitar, what would be the best book out there to buy for a person just starting. Im thinkin of buying a book i saw in my local bookstore called guitar playing for dummies. It part of a series of books eg learning computers for dummies, how to write a novel for dummies, it has yellow cover . Does anyone have any other recommendations for a good book to learn guitar from

    Thanx

I used the bass guitar version of the "Dummies" book when I was starting off. I found it very useful. :)

There are loads of guitar lessons on you tube for free. I think if you pick one tutor on it and go through the lesson plans it would be better than any book.

There are also many sites that have guitar tab for popular songs.

Check out http://www.justinguitar.com/ very good website with good lessons. Also a good Irish guitar teacher with video lessons is http://www.youtube.com/user/FreepowerUG although many of his lessons are a bit more advanced it could be good when you move on from the justingutiar lessons.

The Guitar Handbook by Ralph Denyer is the best I've found. I've seen loads of them over the years but this one is by far my favorite.

I learned with it, and 15 years later I still refer back to it now and again, I would definitely reccommed it.

    Yep for Denyers.

Although a qualified tutor will help you avoid heading up too many blind alleys. And there are many, many blind alleys...
