No saab dealers in Ireland these days..... is there?

I used to got to AzureAuto who was a member here but banned now. Google his name as I believe he has a website or pm and I'll send you his details.

He serviced my saab for 3 years and did a good bit of no servicing work on it as well. Would recommend him

Saab don't exist any more so there won't be any dealers.

The engine is also an Opel/GM engine so you also don't need a Saab specialist, just a competent mechanic.

Hey Doc...Thanks for that but, I have been to two competent mechanics, both of whom were unable to get the diagnostics thingy to work on this particular model. I Even tried to buy one for it and the guy selling them couldn't get one to work on it, In saying that, maybe I will take it too an opel garage to see if they can suss it out....Cheers

Your car should run the generic OBD2 protocols so if several different diagnostic systems haven't been able to connect then the first thing I would be checking is the fuse for the OBD port.

    Hi All,

Could somebody recommend a mechanic on the Southside of Dublin who is familiar with Saab cars.

My car full efficiency is down 25%. Was <6 litres per 100km. Now 7.6 litres per 100km.

I got it serviced recently by my usual mechanic and he found nothing wrong while doing a full service. But the issue is still there. I think I need a mechanic familiar with Saabs.

    Regards

    John

Have you checked your tyre pressures?

Good point but not the issue. I can defiantly see more black smoke than expected from exhaust. I strongly suspect it's a faulty air intake sensor.

The 2.2 diesels sometimes suffer from cracked intake pipes. Symptoms are black smoke and increased fuel consumption.

There is a guy who specializes on Saabs between Newcastle and Baldonell. You can PM me if you want the directions.

Gordon Kellett in Ringsend are still going, they are sort of a Saab main dealer but they aren't overly expensive as they are just desperate for servicing business.

I'm delighted to know that :-) .. While I'm sweating away in a half empty office and a sick car in the basement.

Time for a dose of the "poor me's"

I went to them and they successfully diagnosed the problem (a leaking inter-cooler that was dropping oil into the exhaust system some way. That was the cause of the plumes of black smoke I was getting from the car.

But they then proceeded in pricing themselves out of the repair job by quoting me €850 (€550 for the part).

I gave them €150 and went elsewhere and got the part replaced for 350 all inclusive). So €500 in total.
