Im a 25 yr old female who has never felt so lonely. I have no social life. No group of friends (i used to but they frequently left me out of things and made me feel worthless so i had to get away - but thats another story) I have a few acquaintances but no friends to go out with. Im a normal 25 yr old who loves all the normal things, i enjoy going out of a saturday night, going dancing and having a laugh. Theres nothing weird about me to stop people been my friend, i am somewhat shy but not in an awkward way yet i am so miserable and unhappy. Ive joined groups/classes and nothing friendship wise has ever come from it. Im moving abroad with my boyfriend in a few months and thats the only thing keeping me going right now. I just cant take it anymore

OP a lot of people lose touch when friends scatter after graduation. Others we simply outgrow. It sounds like the ones you did have were toxic and not great for your self esteem. Not everyone is like that so dont let that one experience affect you any longer than it has already.

A couple of years ago I realised I didnt have any close female friends in my town- no reason other than some moved away and we lost touch, others are busy with families and so on. You wont get heaps of friends by simply joining a class, but join the ones that actually interest you - you'll have some common ground rather than just joining up for the sake of it.

If you are moving abroad, why not look up expatriate forums before you go, make contacts and take it from there. If you have certain hobbies, check out any groups you can join there too for when you arrive. Building up new friendships can take time, so bear that in mind.
