Hey guys, its my first time to post on boards so take it easy on me. :) Anyway, was wondering if anyone could offer me a bit of advice in relation to jobs. I am over from Spain for the summer and am looking for work. I speak fairly fluent English, fluent Spanish (obviously), and Basque. I have experience in bartending and waiting tables, as well as camera operating. I'd love to extend my time in Ireland by a few months so I am not fussy about what I do. However I do need enough money to pay for rent and live. If any of you have advice it would be really welcome. I love Dublin and would love to spend more time here! :)

Are you asking us how to look for a job or ...?

If you can ask a specific question we can help you better.

I suppose my question is where are the best places to look for work? And is it better to submit cvs online or to physically give it to employers? Again, any help would be great!

As you're probably aware by now, the unemployment rate in Ireland is fairly high at the moment (though not as high as in Spain). For bar/waiting jobs you're best off putting together your CV, and dropping into bars/restaurants in your area and asking to speak to the manager to hand over a CV (though not all will take the time to talk to you).

For other jobs, take a look at recruitireland.ie, irishjobs.ie and monster.ie

The main thing to do is ensure that your CV is tailored for each kind of job you apply for. Despite your fluent English, get someone else to take a quick look at your CVs before submitting them.

Look at call centre jobs that require Spanish - don't tell them you're only here for the summer.
