Jobs in new VEC in Galway

    Hi all,
I've just seen that Galway VEC are advertising a few jobs for the new school in Claregalway. My subject is listed and I would like to move to Galway for family reasons. I understand there will be 150 or so first years in the interim building in september (the new 1000 student building will not be ready for another few years).
My query is relating to hours; if the entire school population is 1 first year cohort, will this mean you will have very few classes per week and be paid accordingly? I can't imagine a new school could operate with a staff composed entirely of young part-timers, they would need to entice a few experienced staff from other VECs but they will only move if they are offered the same contract/pay that they already have.
    Any thoughts?

I applied for a job in a new school on vec jobs.ie website.
The advertisement said the hours were dependent on the needs of the school. You never know, some experienced teacher would want to get to a new school, and NQT's would be delighted with any hours. I can imagine the more the subjects you might have the better for jobs like that. And perhaps teachers would travel within the vec schools for hours.

There may mot be full hours for all in the first few years, but what they can offer is A&B posts as it is a Greenfield school. Something worth considering if worried about a short term fall in wages
