No, it is a ZAZ-968M Zaporożec (Запорожець) with its air cooled V4 engine mounted behind the rear axle.

I was thinking that... Shur they'd be ten a penny around these parts:D:D
Jeez imagine trying to get parts for that baby, the face on the guy in the auto factors would be worth photographing:confused::confused: Lovely car btw. At least you wouldn't be getting the usual "I learned to drive in one of them" at the local field day...... The plates look manky though. The government should meet with the vintage clubs and try and sort out a decent classic registration system for imports.

ZV numbers are still available. Your choice.

Indeed it is, I've seen it before and thought...

    ...they didn't make 968Ms in 1973.:pac:

No, it means the 174th 1980 vehicle registered in that particular county under the 87> county system since 5th December 2011, rather than this year. (Unless you mean by "this year", "1980", which you probably did, but didn't type it as)

It's maybe the 2/3/4??? hundredth or so 1980 vehicle, if we count in the 1980 vehicles registered since 5/12/11 on ZV plates....

Sorry everyone I've caused a lot of confusion due to posting from my phone without the specs on. The car number I saw was 08wx11174,so it would be the 174th 08 car registered in Wexford since the 5/12/11. Is that correct? If I import a car in the current year will it be 131-WX-11001 ownwards?

    Now there is the question!

Now then have a look at this ......

Imported for a couple of years indeed!!

I'd say that's waaaay down the priority list. People and the clubs just don't care.

I wouldn't agree entirely. A lot of people in the clubs would like to see a decent looking number plate system.

Maybe I should have rephrased it, the govt don't give a stuff. (unless they can make money out of it)

And perhaps the old boys with 'genuine' Irish regs won't lose too much sleep over it either.

Yes, but if a (20)11, 12 or 131 plate onwards I thought the jump in numbers doesn't come into play. I think it's only for (20)10 plates and before.

Benefit of doubt, I'd say it was registered Dec 2011, it's now June 2013. A 2013 and 2011 is a couple of years even if it's only 18 months.
