    Hi,

I bought a 3 (uk) iphone thinking that it would work with my Irish 3 simcard - it doesn't! I now need to get it unlocked. (I don't have a receipt so can't get it done by three).

So, I need to get it unlocked by other means. I would rather not jailbreak it.

I was wondering, the shops in town (Dublin) that unlock them, do they jailbreak it or what? I have checked a few places online, and I think it's going to be pricey...

Sounds like I'm after messing up completely with this purchase! Thought I was after getting a good deal, now it would appear not!

£15.32 from 3 uk themselves. You need an 3uk sim through
You can get a sim from NI, Or try order one using parcel motel if they wont ship to the republic

Yes, you have to be the owner of the phone in order to have it unlocked.

I was back on to three the other day and they said :

"We can only unlock mobiles if the person registered with us asks us to, so to be on the safe side we’ll need to ask you a few security questions before we can do this."

It has been a while since I've bought a phone from a shop, but when buying the phone, do you register it with them when you are buying it, or could they mean when you register the phone with Apple?

They mean the person who bought the phone from them either in a shop or online. You didn't buy it from them so they won't unlock it for you

Thanks for the quick reply. Looks like I'll just go with the 80 quid option
