    You won't need food ;)

I did it last year for the first time and brought a load of food, spares and tools, none of which was needed.
A banana, puncture kit and spare tube is all you need. The food stops are well stocked and if you have a mechanical there's plenty of help.

Better be safe! First year last year for myself and I didn't stop anywhere for food. Managed it on two energy bars, 6 energy gels and two bottles of water. Bad idea though. :D

    Some form of ID.

    Ziplock bag for phone, money.

Back up plan in case of accident, illness, major mechanical - i.e. a partner/friend who can pick you up.

I don't know anyone who lives on Kerry so of I have a mechanical is there some way I can get back to Killarney?

rain coat, phone, money and whatever you need to fix a puncture. I like having two water bottles so maybe a second water bottle and holder on your bike.

Afaik there is a broom wagon.
However given the amount of cyclists on the road you would want to have a pretty serious mechanical sonas to not be able to get back to Killarney.

chamois cream beforehand, tis a long day

If your bringing gels or such stuff, make sure you've tried them beforehand.
As above, you dont need to bring food; you'll put on weight on the day.

Phone ( in zip lock bag) with ICE number programmed in.
Lightweight rain jacket, ideal if you can strap it to handlebar or under saddle.
    Energy gels just in case.
Money for pint in sneem :)
    Two tubes and levers .

All of the above items are spot on except the ICE number on the phone. If you have a phone with a pin number required for access then the ICE number programmed into it is useless. Be sure to write the ICE number on a piece of paper in the Ziploc bag.

Some organised mates to take all that stuff listed above. You can borrow from them- it's perfectly allowed on your first time.

Or.... something like this. I have one myself and wear it all the time when I cycle on my own. Cost $19 at the time all in ..

I use a Road ID (www.roadid.com) for running/cycling etc. May have a go of this myself (first timer).

Must say I agree here. Drove the ring with the family a few weeks ago and the roads are pretty good.
