depends on ground conditions but generally 10-12km/hr.

If you have a 5K disc mower you have to be careful that you do not hit a rock or stone that will do 1K damage. If it a 10Yold semi offset then you can atke a risk.

Generally toppers are more robust than disc mowers in my opinion.

Ideal topping speed is 0km/hr. skip on and take for bales in 10 days. Just being smart.

12 km/hr 540/min good set of new flails

Going to suggest trading in the topper for a mower to the boss here, will give me a bargaining chip when it comes to taking out bales earlier from paddocks, the contractor will not get called here ever unless its for big covers!

How low to the ground do most people set the flails measurement when sitting on concrete?
I had to cut. Bit out of my Abbey to let the skids go far enough up so I could get it low enough. But what height is best.

I would say it is risky letting it lower than manifacturers lowest setting, the skids will sink into softer ground a bit and if you meet any high spots between skids you could do damage

It was too high for my liking. But it was yrs ago I lowered it. Disk leaves a nicer job but easy damaged. Topper will shatter a stone you did not see

I would agree. Topper is different to a mower that has a bed to float along the ground and keep the blades a constant set distance away. To get a fairly similar effect with a topper, you'd want to link the left nd right skids at the back and at the front with a 2 further skid plates.

I have my abbey topper set to the lowest setting and wouldn't dream of going lower. Keep the flails sharp and you are laughing. And chain harrow and ruts or keep topper lifted over them unless you want to try using your topper as a power harrow

"Grass grows grass". You don't actually want to go too low in the first place. The whole point is just to get rid of the ungrazed patches of strong growth, not to skin the surface.
