Can you sleep drunk?

Are you the type of person you can stumble into bed after a night of pumping the booze into you and just conk out? Or do you have to keep yourself entertained for a while until you sober up a bit?

If I'm too drunk after coming home I'll often find myself needing to get sick if I pop straight into bed so I'll generally watch TV for a bit beforehand. I've a mate who has to listen to music while sitting up in his bed before he passes out while I've another one who just begins snoring as soon as he hits the pillow regardless of how much he has had to drink.

Do you have any tricks to help you fall asleep or do you just snooze away at will?

Normally make a cup of tea, hop into bed turn on tv and fall asleep before I drink the tea. Tonight mixed it up and made coffee.

I sleep a lot easier drunk than sober, I can just fall on the bed and be asleep in ten seconds.

Out like a light. It's getting to sleep the next night that's the problem.

It's probably really good that you do this; vomit in your sleep and you could be finito!

Usually end up sleeping in the cab going home first :(

If I've just had a few pints in the pub I'll sleep easily. If I'm completely pissed after drinking vodka and red bull in a night club then there's no chance. Apart from the energy drinks making it difficult to wind down, my ears do be still ringing from the loud music.

No way, I hate the spinnies. I normally lie down and sit up again until they're gone. Ugh the thoughts of them.

I never have trouble getting to sleep, but I can't stay asleep late which ain't good when you've been on the piss :(

Like whoops, no problem getting to sleep but wake up early next day. Side effect of alcohol and sleep patterns.

usually next day is a write off as well and the thought of drinking is out of the question for a couple of weeks.

I'd have to be completely smashed to be able to fall asleep instantly.

If im not that drunk it tends to take me a while to fall asleep and i never sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours before i wake up again and thats usually because ill be gasping for a drink of water.

Being drunk makes sleeping so easy.

Usually, unless the bedroom decides to spin.

Is there any way to stop the room spinning? I heard putting your foot on the floor stops it but its never worked for me.

I always thought I was the only one who had problems sleeping THE NEXT NIGHT after a hardcore session.

Tossing and turning, beer sweats, occasional palpitations, randomly waking up - HATE the next night

Likewise, I can sleep no problem but wake up really early. Can't sleep when my mouth feels like the atacama, my head feels like its balancing concrete blocks on top and my bladder is about to explode.

I try to stay up for up to an hour so I can sober up slightly and pee a bit more before sleeping. It helps, but I usually end up in a slump in front of the TV

I pass out but I wouldn't call it sleep.

I too pass out in bed when drunk, although not immediately. I spend an uncomfortable time waiting for oblivion beforehand. I would not call this state sleep either.

I have also experienced piloting a spinning bed around the ceiling of the bedroom, not a happy event.

Generally following a drunken night the next day is a write off.

I can sleep no problem, but I'll wake up at (sometimes on) the crack of dawn.

If I've been in a niteclub then no. I can still hear boom boom from the speakers. The vodka and red bull doesn't help either.

Most times after a few vodkas i just get the spinis... Horrible it is! Always have a big ass teddy stratigically placed in the corner of my bed when im heading out, so i can sleep sitting up when i get home. Always works!!

Ill sleep but wake up a couple of hours later bursting for the jax and feeling sick till i get the pee done and then head back to bed

Anytime I've been out and there is loud music which is nearly all the time, I can't sleep cause of the fupping tinnitus that I get when I get home, the sound of it is literally deafening, sometimes takes me 2-3 hours to get to sleep.

I despise drunk sleep. Don't actually get any refreshment off it

I tend to have a great sleep after a few drinks.

As soon as I hit the pillow I'm gone. Always wake up early the next morning too then suffer all day. It's always 2 days after I really suffer, scary stuff.

You don't enter REM sleep when you're drunk so you're never going to wake up properly refreshed. Plus alcohol relaxes your throat and soft palate muscles, so you're breathing less easily while asleep (which is why many people snore when drunk)

Worst thing is thinking you're grand, you've sobered up enough then as soon as you hit the pillow the room starts spinning, do you tough it out and hope you nod off or do you sit up and watch tv and hope it goes away.

I always wake up too early when i'm drunk as well, and sleep terribly on sunday night, i'm not even a big drinker but the sunday night fear is horrible.

What is this 'fear' people talk about? I think I once got Delerium Tremens after three days of heavy drinking around my brother's wedding, but surely you wouldn't get this from a 'normal' session?

I used to just drop off to sleep and sleep forever after drinking but recently no it's a bloody nightmare after drinking, awake all night, I think it depends on the mood I'm in.

for me its just feeling restless, knowing I wont sleep and monday will suck more than usual, just drained of energy but mind is racing when i try sleep, I rarely drink a lot and am pretty good at knowing when to stop drinking on a night out but it happens :pac:
