First comp is it? well good luck and don't worry just enjoy yourself. You shouldn't mark your own scorecard, one of your playing partners should and you should mark theirs. You just mark down the actual number of strokes on each hole and then when you are finished you will total them up, depending on the type of comp (stroke, stableford etc).
If its your first comp or if you are in any doubt, just ask one of your playing partners or just ask in the club shop/office beforehand.

There are a number of different reasons to be disqualified under Rule 3. As above; 3-2. failure to hole out (often happens with players who are used to stableford competitions and pick up their ball when they can't score on the hole). 3-3. Playing a second ball and not reporting it to the committee and 3-4. refusing to comply with a rule affecting the rights of another competitor.
