    Hi all,

This question may have been asked prior and if it has apologies.

I'm buying a new 132 reg car been delivered the start of July and was just wondering how I'd go about getting a nice handy reg number such as 132WX1 or 132WX231 or such like.

Can this be done or do you only get the next number in line?

You can reserve numbers. It used to cost 200 or so then it went to 1000 euro. Not sure how it stands now

    Thanks Mick.

Yea, paying to reserve specific numbers makes sense... I'm guessing some numbers would cost more than others.... Anything over 50-100 quid and I'd just stick to whatever number they throw out at me.

I'd say you'd be sticking with what they throw at you. Its still €1000 for a reserved number.

Thanks for the source shaaane... Yip I most certainly will be taking what ever number they happen to throw out at me.

    Thanks again.

No bother. Scandalous amount of money for a reserved number but hey, its Ireland after all. Best of luck with the new motor

Cheers, hopefully all goes well with it and sure ya never know, with the weak car sale market currently, I might just happen to get 132WX1 free of charge due to lack of competition.

Scandalous is right for reserving a number and the worst thing is if they allowed the change registration numbers like in most other countries we have some great old combinations that could make a fortune for the government.

1 is usually reserved for the local big wig or JJ Kavanagh gets them

Only in Ireland would they increase the price of something to the point no one will pay it in the hope of fleecing the already fleeced consumer. I'd like to know the name of the brain dead civil servant that came up with that retarded idea!

Yes CJC999, it is a truly Irish answer to an economical scenario.... Fleece 1 poor unfortunate with more money than sense, rather than taking a reasonable rate off a far larger amount of people willing to pay the reasonable rate.

Yes madness of course. I would love to see the money taken in from reserved plates when it cost 200 versus now.
