My beloved reliable 12 year old Kysrium Sl's have finally cracked (well the back one at least!) so took the decision in the bike shop today to go for the same again. Sl S's. Not sure if I like the white hub. Can't help wondering in my mind though should I of went the whole hog and got the r-Sys SLRs! Double in price! But of it's a big log term decision.... I have a nice bike to put them on that I only use in good weather and mainly do long hilly club rides. Mainly because I really like the look of them, they look class. Am worried though that they mightn't be as reliant as the Ksyrium Sl's or as bombproof if I hit a pothole. What would u do? are they really worth double? I mainly like the look but does the performance justify the doubling in price???
In a major dilemma! Won't sleep tonite!

    Any help appreciated!
    Cheers,
    D

Go for the Ksyrium SLR, look just as good but only one and a half times the price of the Ksyrium SL

    !

Hey Countrykid. How do you find the braking on these? Was reading about the coating they put on them to give them the cool black look and wondered if it affected the braking.

OP: FWIW I think both the SLR and the Ksyrium look great

Hey yeah, I think u are right! I really like the bladed spokes of the Kysrium and they aren't on the R-Sys making it less aero, but love the look of the R-Sys, so the Ksyrium SLR is the perfect answer!! Cheers!

one is " supposed" to use specific brake pads with these rims...exciate i think is the name of the surface coating...
    i use standard campy pads...
they squealed loudly until bedded in a bit....ok now but i think the may wear out fast enough..we'll see..
as far as quality of braking goes... in the dry..very very strong...predictable and user friendly once you know where the " bite" point is...
not as good in the wet to be honest...havent done much in the wet in truth but i know my eurus would be way better in this regard...

I got set of the Ksyrium SLS six months ago.

I find them brilliant. Super light, bombproof (so far!) and the quickest wheels I've ever used. The tyres that came with them are pretty faultless too.

I was thinking about getting the R-sys but was put off by the carbon spokes, which would be a nightmare to replace if one snapped, I imagine.

Yeah I am the same, r-Sys less aero so decided on the Kysrium SLR
