So I thought it would be a good idea to try and get rid of where the brake is held on at the back of the bike on a frame. I'm making into a fixie I got a vice grips and bent it hoping the weld would break. The only thing I succeed in was ripping the metal a little. What I want to know is it still OK to go ahead and build the fixie with this frame or would that have effect on the over all strengthen to the frame?

If you remove it, the rear triangle will not be as strong as before and the frame will be bit more wobbly. Breaking the weld? Bad idea. With vice grips? Even worse. Butcher's job, sorry mate.

The camera is fine, your distance to the damage isn't.

As far as I can guess from your pictures, you have tried to remove V brake / canti mounting posts, not the caliper bridge as I have thought.

The frame should be fine, but if I'd like to remove something for aesthetic reasons I'd do it in an aesthetic way :-P If its a steel frame take it to somebody that can un-weld them, if its alu then dremel them off close to the tube and sand down carefully whatever's left.
