opinions on timing belt

My mothers friend has asked me to go check out a VW Golf in Wicklow later on today. It's a 2008 1.4 with a shade under 30,000km. The timing belt hasn't been done and it's the one thing i'm not sure about on these. The seller has convinced her it doesn't need to be replaced. I'm of the opinion that on such low milage it…

It needs to be done after 5 years I think.

I had it done last year on a similar car for 250 quid.
