    He truely does great work.
Just wish I had the milling/cnc equipment and maybe a bit more patience:)

Ye he's unreal and he doesn't use a cnc he just uses a lathe. I thought i was a great lad making a few handmade flash hiders untill i seen this thread.

Pretty cool stuff alright especially that AW 50cal, the man must be minted though.

He uses Tanaka's as a base gun in some , never mind the cost of materials, the cost of running a Lathe and Mill and the man hours, not to mention trial and error with certain pieces because you can be guaranteed he did not build them all in one go.

Still though...That is the definition of a custom build right there. Not adding a generic airsoft brand silencer to a M4 and calling it a custom build :).

Seems like an awful lot of work for a "toy gun" :D

the man must be minted though.

He says in the thread that these builds cost $1000-2000.

And he mentions he builds them at work:-)
    Lucky man.

Does he run his own company?
Or are his bosses cool like that?

Someone else did mention that buying aluminium in bulk is cheap as they had done at their workplace.

Not sure if its his own company or he works for someone.
Either way he has access to some excellent equipment.

I'd love to have a machine shop one day, got my first taste of CNC a few months ago and loved it.

I used to do bits like that at work, too. It depends on the job and the gear. Some places are fine with it because the machines lie idle half the day.
Never did it to that extent, but more because it never occurred to me. Bolties are something I never had much time fiddling with, but are arguably the most customisable platform if you're willing to put in that level of effort and imagination (and money...).

Never mind the cost of the machines! They'd be some very expensive mistakes if you fecked 'em up! What's the going rate for aluminium billets these days?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 975 ✭✭✭CpcRc

I'd check here. I bought some sheets for targets before. If I get a machine or have to machine stuff I'll probably use them as their rates seemed reasonable. They also sell POM/delrin whichever you like to call it.

Delrin is great stuff. Hardy, but light and easy to work with. Takes a buffing really well, too, so it's easy to get to a high polish/very smooth finish for interference/tight clearance fits.

I need a couple of custom bits made. If anyone can do it let me know via PM! Check out Candyman over on Zeroin. He makes some sweet pieces too.

After looking at this man's custom builds.... I slowly paced myself to my room and cried myself to sleep.
