Just looking into a wedding in Portugal. I presumed with the price of food / drink etc the packages for meals would be better. I've heard of people getting great deal abroad but looking at a few venues they are up to 125 pp which seems like a lot! I know part of the price is less people come but inreckon we'd be looking at up to 100 still. The wedding planners seem to deal with a lot of 5* venues tho. Any tips where to look? I saw one at 45pp which is more up my alley!

I tell you what. We're heading to Spain in October to check the place out and meet wedding planners and have flights booked and paid for months but over the last week we changed our minds about even getting married over there so we're not 50/50.

We thought it would be cheaper and I suppose it is but only because we're only going to have 40 guests over there and over here we will have 140 guests so in reality we are saving ZERO by getting married abroad. In Spain anyway the price for meals STARTS at €59(in the region we are looking) and then they force you to pay for the bar to stay open whilst also paying for everybodies drinks, then transport and entertainment can cost as much. It doesn't include reception drinks and canapes or even biscuits and no dessert.

We were looking at around €14k for Spain and €18k here but here you get more guests and more guests equals..........................................;)

which means the overall cost would come back to you and you would probably come in cheaper than Portugal because for us anyway we wouldn't dream of taking anything of people who travelled to Spain for us because it would have cost them an arm and a leg to get there.

We still haven't totally decided one way or the other just yet but if we stay here then we get a long weekend in Spain in October and obviously not bother meeting the wedding planners.
