Unknown Spider in garden WARNING PIC OF SPIDER IF SQUEaMISH

    Anyone know what this fella is? Found him out my back just now, the coin is a 5c coin. He looks a bit intimidating...never saw the likes of him:

    False widows would be a bit bigger... Nearly the size of a euro coin. I'm no spider expert though, maybe it's a baby one.

    Fab looking spider though!

    That spider looks about the size of any False Widows I've come across in porch corners, sheds or other dark places. :)

    I don't know much about spiders so I stand to be corrected. However I would guess it's a common
    orb weaver of some kind. I've seen a few of these fat bum spiders around from time to time
    they build gorgeous circular webs and hang around in the middle of it. :)
