Manual says 18k miles. Seems very long to me.

Mostly urban driving. Takes 7.7L of full synthetic so not a small sump.

Im thinking 10k miles. Or am I being too cautious

Urban stuff is hard on yokes, and considered "harsh/extreme driving conditions" by most manufacturers. What's your annual mileage?

If I were you I would go with 15,000km intervals. So basically having an interim oil service at the half way point of the manufacturer's ridiculously long service interval.

my avensis is supposed to be every 9000 miles. I get it done every 5000 and she is a happy car. I go twice as often as it is needed.
