i read an article on bleacher report naming 10 famous boxers who went bankrupt, seriously why is it that boxers go broke compared with other sports stars, are fighters today now better informed on how to manage money and to not get caught up with the likes of Don King or will we hear the same sad stories about fighters in the future, what has to change or what can be done to insure fighters get what they deserve and dont end up with nothing after giving a lot to the sport

    It's not just boxers.
I was reading some American newspaper a couple of months ago and there was a story in it about NFL players.

Something like 70% of them are broke within five years of retiring!

    Ballers gotta balla!

Boxing is a cut throat business. The high and lows of elite boxing are much more extreme than any other sports. there are no testimonials in boxing. If you are not astute and/or don't have good grounded people around you from the get go , you are going to be taken advantage of.

Check out ESPN's 30 for 30 documentary called "Broke". It documents many NFL,NBA and NHL stars who signed multi million dollar contracts yet ended up living way beyond their means.
