G&G Raider loss of power

    Hi all
recently i had a problem with my G&G Raider. There was a massive loss of power and range one day and it was coming in at 145fps with .20 bb's this was with all the gear box internals stock the only thing i had changed at the time was the hop up rubber it was a mad bull blue and i had been running the gun with that rubber for a few months with no problems.

After i discovered there was a problem i asked around as to what it might be a friend of mine said i was probably losing air pressure in the cylinder so i changed the cylinder, cylinder head, piston, piston head and air nozzle all the new parts are made by garuder did a compression test and it worked fine but when i fired the gun the bb went about 5 feet so i changed the hop up rubber but no joy then the hop up unit and still no change I've tried everything i can think of different motors as well.

If anyone has any idea what might be causing this problem id be great full for your help :)

Couple of things you can do,

Inspect your gearbox shell for cracks.

Inspect your hop-up chamber for cracks.

    Inspect the rubber for tears.

Make sure that your brass barrel shim and possibly a O-ring is present.

Make sure that the spring found on the hop chamber is present.

The air nozzle and chamber might also not be mating properly, aftemarket airsoft parts sometimes have a tendency not to work well together.

Failing all these, I'd dis-assemble your gearbox and then re-assemble.

I would add. Piston o-ring might need grease or replacing, apply grease to the cylinder head o rings and to the air nozzle. These can all be loses of compression.

Yeah i did all that but there isn't a problem with the compression in the cylinder and its all brand new anyway im just losing air pressure after the cylinder and i can't find where

I just had an o-ring problem before so thought I'd mention it. Have you put grease on the cylinder head tube so that it seals better with the o-ring in the air nozzle?
Does the air nozzle fit tightly into the hopup chamber?
Is it definitely a M4 air nozzle length/proprietary air nozzle being used with a standard M4 hopup chamber?
How old is the hopup rubber?
If you remove the barrel from the hopup chamber to see the hopup rubber, is the hopup rubber dry and harder than it should be?

That last one is how to tell when the replace a hopup rubber. hopup rubbers dry out and "go stale" over time and can lead to compression and feeding issues and need to be replaced.

Those are a few things off the top of my head.

    Hopup might've been torn also

Final add, where is your nearest airsoft shop?

Have you checked what southern dandy said, id check the spring first......easy thing to miss. I personnaly have an o-ring were my hop up meets the gearbox to remove any possibility of a leak.......even the o ring by itself could help.
I can get a pic if you want

Thanks for all the advice lads i changed the hop up rubber to a new one as i had been using old ones So that was probably my problem it works grand now the range is back up id say even better than it was just have to get down to the site and see what it comes in at.

The only thing now is its double feedin on semi auto but i think that's down to the new air nozzle being abit to short.

What hopup rubber are you using now? Some hopup rubbers have feeding lips that are too thin/weak and can cause double feeding issues.

I used one of these as a placeholder while waiting for a new hopup rubber and had feeding issues of double feeding.

Im using a Garuder 70 degree rubber but i changed the chamber back to the stock one and that sorted it all out the guns working great now :) thanks once again for all the help lads
