    Modem Status connected
    DownStream Connection Speed 106 kbps
    UpStream Connection Speed 520 kbps

How is this possible? Any tech types like to explain this?

We've been on 800k down and 500k up for the last week or so.

I'm on Smart Telecon ADSL in cork btw.

So 20 minutes and one unplug/replug cycle later:

    Modem Status connected
    DownStream Connection Speed 7726 kbps
    UpStream Connection Speed 752 kbps
    i
OK so I know what to do. But with all that technology
Why do i have to resort to unplugging from the line to get back to 'normal'??

Some one told me that on wireless internet there is a deliberate policy of giving slower service to longer connected customers.
    Maybe ADSL is the same..

looks like your modem is faulty and or has old firmware and needs to be upgraded.
