    The New York Rangers have fired head coach John Tortorella.

    The Rangers finished sixth in the Eastern Conference and advanced to the second round of the playoffs before losing to the Boston Bruins.

    Tortorella had been with the Rangers the past five seasons, his most successful coming in 2011-12 when New York finished first in the Eastern Conference and advanced to the Eastern Conference Final.

    Hardly a surprise. He has had far too much talent not to win in New York.

    Posted in the play off thread about this. Really poor decision by Sather. I would prefer it if he went and Torts stayed. He is the one who negotiated the players contracts. Lots of rumours around the Rangers forum that I post on that Hank is behind this.

    Alot of speculation around vancouver torts to be head coach of canucks next season! Looking very likely he'll be involved in some way!!!

    Apparently he went for his 3rd interview with gillis today!(3? A bit ridiculous!)
