I spent a lovely night in the old convent, clogheen at the weekend. Probably the best meal I've had in Ireland. It's a small venue but I'm sure they could fit it 100 people. Worth checking out. Otherwise kilshane house is probably the best I can think of.

Raheen House in Clonmel is lovely and they cater for weddings of about 100 but not much more. Food is fab there too

Cahir House Hotel, Aherlow Hse, Kilcoran Lodge, Ballykisteen.
    Kilshane House is massive money!!

Great - thanks for that guys. As we won't have that many guests I don't want a big dance floor - I was thinking of Dundrum house hotel too but have heard that there is no atmosphere there in the evening if small numbers - has anyone heard anything positive or negative about it?

    Thanks
    A.

I think you are better over-filling a small place than under-filling a large venue (as long as everyone can be seated for food!)

    Ballykisteen?

Ballykisteen is a great venue, but as most people are aware by now it's future is uncertain.
Clonmel Park hotel is also a popular venue, but again it is in receivership, so i suppose any negotiations with them would have to reflect the possibility of its viability.

Kilshane had me drive all the way from Dublin knowing that I wanted a Friday & Saturday, full pitch & then tell me they cannot accommodate me. Reasoning is that some people change their mind when they see the venue! Shocking

If you're thinking North Tipp then Ashley Park is lovely! Or in the south Cashel Palace. You have a good number for a country house and there are some gorgeous ones in Tipp!

Dundrum is lovely but you do need a crowd to create atmosphere. Ballykisteen is nice and got married there myself last year.

Thanks for all the info. I've narrowed it down to Cashel Palace Hotel and Dundrum for now. I live abroad though so won't be able to visit them until the summer. Half the guests will be French so I like the idea of a country house...and more intimate for around 90 guests.
Also thought of Adare Manor in Limerick but I imagine its a small fortune...

Yeah, thanks for that but they have a minimum of 100 guests...

How about Kinnitty Castle, Its actually in Offally but very close to Roscrea so depends what part of Tipperary you are in. Although it can accomodate up to 200 it actually suits a smaller wedding and I think if your number is around 90 you can have the table in one long banqueting style. Good if you want something different

No harm in talking to them, you'd never know, they might be flexible.

Worth your while to take a trip to Clonmel......................Raheen House, it is leased to a guy called John who is very approachable and accommodating. Talk to no one else other than John, make an appointment to see him before you travel.

Have found weddings in Raheen House to be average at best, food not great etc. The only redeeming feature of the place would be the grounds.
