The statement released by the Irish Greyhound Board reads:
Monday 27th May 2013: The Irish Greyhound Board and Kerry County Board are today delighted to announce the return of the racing spectacular Race of Champions. Taking place on Friday June 21st at The Kingdom Greyhound Stadium in Tralee, the event this year will be sponsored by Boylesports and the best national canine stars in the country will battle it out for the €15,000 winning prize fund. The event, with the key support of bookmakers Boylesports, new race sponsor Dunbia and the Kerry GAA will serve to highlight the tourism and commerce capability of the town and serve as a major fundraiser for the Kerry GAA training fund while showcasing how the greyhound industry plays a pivotal role in the local community.
Racing fans on the night will be treated to an event full of excitement as well as having the opportunity to meet Kerry GAA Senior Football and Hurling players that are available for autographs before racing commences. The Boylesports Race of Champions will feature the best of Irish and UK greyhounds, including last year’s winner Razldazl Rioga that is owned by Ireland’s voice of Gaelic games, Michael O’ Muircheartaigh.

Declan Dowling, General Manager at The Kingdom Greyhound Stadium said, “The Race of Champions is the highlight of our racing calendar here at The Kingdom Greyhound Stadium. This year we are delighted to welcome Boylesports as the main title sponsor of what is regarded as one of the most prestigious greyhound races in the country. Once again we will be joined by the Kerry County Board and GAA players on the night, on what is an important fundraising event for their training fund so I would ask the community to get behind them and come along for an entertaining night where we will showcase all that is great about Kerry and sport.”
Patrick O Sullivan, Chairman of Kerry GAA.” I welcome the 4th year of this very successful fundraising venture in association with the Kingdom Greyhound Stadium Tralee and the Irish Greyhound Board. I thank Boylesports for their generous sponsorship of the race of champions and I also wish to thank all the other race sponsors and contributors for their support. Clubs and the supporters have made this a night to remember in the past and I look forward to everybody having a very successful and enjoyable occasion on the 21st June.”
