I was thinking of doing (chancing) the service on my berlingo myself, just the basics, oil change, oil filter, air filter and top up levels if required eg brake fluid coolant etc. Heater plugs were only done a while ago so they should be fine. I suppose my question is would these jobs be difficult to do for someone who is not mechanic? Thanks in advance for the replies.:)

Not at all man, plenty of us on here do all or at least nearly all our own work afaik. You'll find plenty of info for doing the change yourself online, probably even a guide.
Once you take your time and have the tools to complete the job you'll be grand :)

Honestly once you do it once you will never understand why you haven't before!

With the oil, remember that when you fill it up after draining it, once you have started the engine the level will drop slightly because the filter has to be filled by the system. Just don't forget to top it off :)

The Air filter is just a pile of screws or simpler again if they are just clasps.

Make sure you throw an eye round the rest of the van while your at it just for any wear elsewhere e.g. tyres, wipers, shocks, pads, flexi pipes etc.

Just so you know it's in good enough order :)

tyres on front are new, back tyres have a liitle left in them and yea i have to replace some of the wipers. Lets hope all the hours spent watching wheelerdealers comes in handy, ed bet watch out!!!!

...and top up levels if required eg brake fluid...

Bear in mind that you'll see lowered brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir as the pads wear. A lot of modern yokes actually depend on this for the "brake pads worn!" warning light.
