'Can't get broadband on my Eircom land line' ????????

I waited a month for Eircom to install a landline in my house, constant problems and errors by Eircom meant I had to ring them nearly every 2nd day about something. The line was finally installed yesterday. I tried to order Broadband today and was told my line failed the broadband test and I can't receive broadband. I don't use a landline phone so had to cancel my account.

Can someone explain why broadband wouldn't work on a certain landline? I am 9km's from Limerick city, about 2 miles from the nearest exchange and neighbours have Eircom Broadband fine. I was also told I can't get broadband from any other provider that uses Eircom's lines.

    What's going on?

    Hi sheehy83

Can you confirm the telephone number and address via private message and I can check it out for you.

    Thanks, Mark

Hi, I rang Eircom back and they said I shouldn't have cancelled because the line needed more time then being transferred to a few different departments, 1 agent said I absolutely can't get it and another agent said I most likely can get it. I have to call back in the morning and get them to reactivate my phone line, then wait a few days and ring them to run a Broadband check again. If I come across any more issues, I will PM you, thanks.

    Hi sheehy83

With any new connection it can take time to get a line tested for broadband from the exchange.

If the agent did not confirm the last test date that was associated to the telephone number that was part of your order, was before the line was installed to your address.

If you need me to follow up feel free to PM the details.

No they didn't. When I asked for broadband, she said 'Your line failed the test so you can't get broadband'. As I have no intention of using the phone, I said I would need to cancel my account so and I was transferred to cancellations.

    Hi sheehy83

If you send me the info I can investigate it directly and get back to you with a more definitive indication.

    Thanks,  Mark
