i've been looking for a dc2 for a while now and all i can seem to find are ones that aren't looked after and ones with poor ads on donedeal. Is there any Irish site with Dc2 enthusiasts selling cars?

I am sure there are still good ones out there but you wont get the good ones for the price the bad ones are at. Even old Civics that were well look after go for big money.

Check out dtdirl.com and the uk forums.
Not many genuine examples left and the ones that are left are not for sale due to the low value and how hard it would be to replace the car.

I sold mine a few years back, loved it!

100% agree with the above post too. Don't expect a good car for the same price as the ****e ones.

Cars like these tend to have a life cycle and part of that is the time before they hit classic status(many, if not most car models never do), where they have gone through the enthusiast stage, then the boyracer stage, then they start to disappear from the roads as they age and fashions change and/or get broken for their valuable parts. At that point what's left tend to be ropey, or very good(and expensive). The Honda Integra DC2 is at that point IMHO. In Ireland anyway. 5 years ago you would have your pick of cars. The death by taxes of Japanese imports and the high theft issue* and the crazy insurance ratings really killed them.

That said, now is likely the best time to get one to hang on to. Prices are as low as they're likely to get. The R version is a couple of grand cheaper here than in the UK for example. What version are you looking for? 1600 cc Ls 1800cc Si, or 1800cc type R? If you're under pension age the R will crucify you with insurance, the Si will be cheaper and Ls will be a lot cheaper(though cheap is relative). Having had both an Si and an R, I would say*blasphemy alert* that unless you're hurtling around a track eager for death the Si isn't that much slower and is slightly easier to live with, being a lot quieter for a start. Throw in decent suspension and the gap narrows further. Waaay better seats in the R however.

As for finding one, I reckon keep on trawling donedeal/carzone etc. I'm a member of a couple of Honda DC 2 forums, but the majority of the sales stuff is UK based.

*A DC2 or any Japanese car from that period needs an alarm and layers of security like a fish needs water. If you don't have that it's not a case of if, but when it'll go walkabout without you behind the wheel.
