Corolla Headlight Problem

    Hi guys,
I have a 2006 1.4 D4D Toyota Corolla. I checked my headlights today and noticed I have a problem. When I turn the stalk one click for parks the park bulbs come on fine. When I turn it a second click for low beams the parks, low beams and high beams turn on, however the high beams only come on at about half of their full brightness. When I click the stalk for high beams The left low beam dims slightly and the left high beam comes on fine at full brightness. On the right side the low beam turns off completely and the high beam also turns off. The park stays on.
What does this problem sound like.
I was thinking possibly the stalk.
    Is this a DIY repair?
    Thanks,
    Thomas

    I doubt it's a stalk.

    Ground missing or faulty relay.

Hey guys sorry for the late reply I was away for a while.
Anyways I replaced the melted socket for the right low beam with a new one. Problem not resolved.
Have ye any ideas where else I can look?
Does anyone know where the relay is on this car? (1.4 D-4D 2006 Toyota Corolla - 1NDTV Engine).
    Thanks guys

Look into an engine compartment. :)

Thanks bro, any idea which one is for lights and how I would test it?

The diesal avensis of the same vintage had issues with the original headlamp houseing, the solution to which was replacement with a good quality spurious part.

Perhaps this issue also affected the corolla?

    Check the low beam bulbs

    First, check headlights fuses.

    Here:

They're marked as HEAD (LH,RH, etc).

Gonna post a simple one. Had a Micra with a similar problem. All lights coming on half dimmed and everything. Replaced melted socket with new one. Didn't do much. Replaced the bulb. Perfect! The bulb had actually gone faulty itself. Definitely recommend changing bulb. Also if one light connector is bad I highly recommend checking the others. Hope this helps!

Thanks for ye're help everyone :) Car fixed now. Was a blown 15A fuse. Didn't think a blown fuse could cause such a problem
