Is there anything to be gained by entering apns for different networks on a 3G sim free dongle enabled tabby?

    3's APN's in a nutshell .....

3ireland.ie original APN once apon a time the only APN now used only by phones for data. Strict NAT uses a small group of NATed IP addresses

3internet 3's APN for NBS and MBB dongles, each user gets their own internet routeable IP address.

There is a third historic APN I can't remember now but it always works the same as 3ireland.ie

A wrong APN like internet.com will often work and give you the same settings as the 3ireland.ie APN but not always.

So if you can use 3internet and dial string *99#

Tnx mate but I can use any unlocked dongle with different sims with the tablet but just wondered if it would make any difference to enter the apns manually or maybe that would slow down the connection, what do you think?

A connection is a connection provided its connected it doesn't matter how the connection was created, just occasionally as with 3 you have a choice on APN to use and the 3internet APN is the better one in that specific case.
