Crew Cab Van Shopping - Advice

Myself and the band are currently shopping for a decent crew cab van, something like a Transit, Vivaro, Master etc... to transport our gear and ourselves and be reliable in doing so. What I'm asking is has anyone any experience in this area? Ideally we would want to buy from a reputable dealer but our budget might limit that option, veering us towards Donedeal or similar.. Is this a good place to be looking for a van or is there a chance of being ripped off? Has anyone bought a van or crew cab on Donedeal and what kind of things should we look out for? Is it worth bringing a mechanic with us and are there any tell-tale signs of swindler? We would be fairly alert towards this but unfortunately our knowledge of motors is pretty insufficient. Also, should anything under 3k for a (2002-2005) be considered to be in bad condition? Cheers. :)

From experience, if you can get a 4X4 and a trailer you'll be much happier.
Crew cabs sound like a nice idea but if you're touring at all you'll be spending a lot of time in the van and those yokes are not comfortable with 4 or 5 lads in them.

the amount of equipment and value of it would normally necessitate a van , also wouldnt require an EB licence to tow a box trailor.

I know of 2 fairly well known Irish bands using crewcab mercedes Vito vans , a transit factory crewcab could also be a good option.
