Bose bass box gone again

For the second time in 4 years, my bass box in my lifestyle system is gone dead.
The last time I sent it to Belgium but it's quite expensive sending it back....

I know Bose prefer to do the repairs themselves but does anyone know of anyone in the Midwest who's able to work on bass boxes...

It's more than likely a fuse or something similar, I have an old JVC adagio and sometimes the glass fuse just needs replacing....

Replace the fuse yourself? Wouldn't be that difficult to do.

Just make sure the system is fully disconnected from the main power supply and open her up and look for the glass fuse then bring it to your local electrical store or you can pick one up at a car electrical outlet as they would/should have the correct fuse and just pop it back in and it should be grand.

Have you had similar problems with a bass box ?

Not with a bass box, but it's usually the internal fuse that gives out after time with most electrical devices. It's the first place to look to determine the cause of the breakdown You should be able to see if the fuse is blackened or if the wire in the fuse is broken from it's connections.

There's nothing special about Bose speakers that would require it being sent back to the factory. It's more than likely either a fuse or a woofer, both of which are easily replaced.

Fuses do fail from "exhaustion" so to speak. But if the fuse is blackened then there may be a more serious issue.

Do you drive it hard at high levels ?

    What's the model number ?

    Ken
