    Hi all,
I've been having problems with my '01 polo, 1 litre.
Basically the engine is running very rough when accelerating, engine light coming on and off, dash lights flashing. Very jumpy, and losing power (not cutting out but just very slow to build speed). I've been told its the plug leads and ignition coil that need changing.. not a huge job! (maybe new plugs too for safe measure)
I've had quite a bit of hassle with this car though and I wanted get your expert opinions! Is there a chance that this won't solve the issue?
    Thanks in advance!

I can't think of anything else that would cause those symptoms. Get the plugs done while your at it. They're longlife plugs and 8-10 quid each so tend not to be changed. NGK are the original manufacturers.

Is your EPC light coming on or just the engine symbol?

Thanks Ronnie, no EPC light isn't coming on, just the check engine. It can run smooth even while the light is on, but then back to the jumpy-ness again soon! I had egr valve changed last September, and the clutch cable bracket broke in November. I've only had the car a year so really hoping that bad things happen in 3's and after this we'll be flying!

A flashing engine light means a misfire that can cause damage, in most cases its as you've said, a coilpack, leads etc. Just don'd drive it too much like that or your 4th repair will be a catalytic converter:eek:

Bit late for that Nissan, been driving it a while like that, oops! Getting it sorted tomorrow though! Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated.
