    Hi folks

Looking for a bit of advice here. My dad has a 06 318E90. Every year something seems to go on it, last year it was the air con unit and fan, now, the DTC has failed. He's looking to get rid of it now as he's pissed off paying out fairly big money to get this kind of stuff replaced.

What would you guys recommend? He probably only drives about 5k a year. He was looking at an S40 08 onwards, low tax, top spec etc. probably can rule out diesel due to low mileage.

    Any other suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Honda Accord petrol if he wants something uber reliable. You can pick up 07/08 petrol models fairly cheap these days.

    For example:

Blower motor and DTC unit are common problems on the E90 :(

Blower motor cost me €70 from a broken car and €40 to get it fitted.
DTC unit (Hydro Control Unit) can be covered under good will depending, i got one done for free and one labour only, but aside from that, Baldoyle Autos (recommended BMW indy seemly) quoted approx €340 to supply and fit of the new Hydro unit recently on another E90 for me.

    Hi lads,

Sorry meant to say he probably wants to spend 5-6k on top of what he gets on trade in. There is only 47k miles on the Car.

Why not point him in the direction of an early 00's Lexus LS430 or a GS300 from the same era. Both can be had for less then his cash budget and he won't find much more trouble free luxury then either.

    850 csi then?

Seriously. With an annual mileage of <5000 your doors are open to all sorts of cool cars. I am actually jealous. If I didnt have to drive as much I would be rolling in a bentley or something!
