.. a craze in the early 90's among people singing Simon and Garfunkels The Boxer loudly and shouting ''Bullsh*t'' after the lie di lie bits of the chorus.

A vision planted in my brain still remains. . .

    . . . 10000 people, maybe more

But not of people singing that.

It was the sound of silence.

I never heard of this Simon and Garfield. But did they rip off the mumford and sons classic song, the boxer?

I remember during songs in the teen discos:

    OOO-AAAH, OOO-AAAH, OOOOOOOO!!!!

    OOO-AAAH, OOO-AAAH, OOOOOOOO!!!!

Yeah OP, it's a classic, right up there with singing, "Hey Baby Let The Free Birds Fly", "Sinn Fein", "IRA" during The Fields Of Athenry

"Yeah there's this great song, let's fúck it up completely by shouting things in the chorus that have no relation to the song"

    Gets on me wick!

A pub band I used to play with stopped doing Knocking on heavens door after Guns and Roses covered it and every denim clad mulletted arse in the pub would insist on going "!Hie hie A hie hie YEAH!!!!!! during the chorus

The funniest thing about the Fields of Athenry is the number of people who think it's a traditional song. When you tell them it was written in the 80's by Pete St John they get all indignant.

Art Garfunkel's music is pap, but Paul Simon went on to make some excellent music

Not to mention starring in numerous classic films such as Caddyshack, National Lampoon's Vacation, Fletch and Memoirs Of An Invisible Man.
