Feedback on Picture Mega-Thread

I'm hoping to get some feedback on the rule regarding the picture and picture discuss mega-threads on the forum.

My question is if forum users feel that it is discouraging them from posting pictures and from engaging in friendly discussions about their gear.

Personally, I am not a fan of mega-threads and find them extremely frustrating to navigate. From a moderation point of view, maintaining the separation of pictures and discussion also creates extra work.

Most other instrument and gear fora allow users to post pictures and discuss them when and where they like. This forum has become a lot slower in terms of traffic in the last couple of years and it would be nice to get more people posting in the future.

What would you prefer here? If you have any other suggestions, please share them.

How should pictures be managed on the forum? 5 votes

Change nothing - keep the two mega-threads and discourage posting/discussing pictures off-thread

Close the mega threads and encourage pictures and discussion to take place freely

Restart the mega-threads (possibly in modified form - please detail)

I think a 'TheGearPage' style format wouldn't be too bad, where if someone gets something new etc, they tend to just make a single thread about it, and post their review/thoughts, but then there's also a few mega-threads for complete collections and 'families' etc.

I think having comments and pictures in the same thread is the way forward, as it is now it discourages discussion and makes following any discussion really difficult as you have to jump back and forth between two threads.

I also like on say the likes of ILF where there's a separate thread for amps, guitars, basses, pedalboards etc. Don't see a problem with new pedal/amp/guitar day threads either if someone feels the need to start a new thread for their latest purchases.

Yeah, these are definitely allowed now, although no one ever seems to do it. I have a sneaking suspicion it's because of the mega-thread.

The decision on that pre-dates me being mod but at the time it was needed, if I recall correctly.

Hopefully feylya will drop in and let us know what he thinks at some stage.

I agree with zafo on this one !

And if someone feels the need to show off their latest squeeze in a new thread , so be it .

+1 only one megathread but maybe no quoting pictures. Seems to work in the motoring forum.

Cant say I had a problem with the current setup tbh, but a single thread might be easier. Provided of course the no quoting pics rule is adhered to.
