Constant rattle noise, possible oil airlock?

    Hi there,
Yesterday I noticed a constant rattling coming from the engine of the Suzuki Cultus. Not long after (30 mins of driving) the oil light came on.

I got some oil, and since I couldn't find the dipstick immediately and was in a rush I just poured about 250ml of oil in. Set off again and the noise seemed to have gone and the oil light stayed off.

The noise was back again towards the end of the return journey. I noticed the oil light flash once or twice too.

Today I checked the dipstick and it's at the Max line, which I would have thought would have taken more oil than that to put it at the max line.

So I'm worried the oil is locked somehow which is causing friction as well as the light to come on?

    Any thoughts would be great.

    Thanks

Oil airlock in a car sounds odd.
How long since your last oil service? You might as well get one done now if it's a long time ago. And then keep an eye on the level every time you fuel the car for a few weeks.

The oil can't get air locked in any way.

If your oil level is full but you are getting engine noise and oil warning light then I'd be suspecting a blocked oil pick up or a failing oil pump. Issues with the oil filter could be possible too if the car is poorly serviced.
